Using the social tact to push traffic to online merchants and brands
is the premise behind a relatively new start-up. In some early test
cases, the platform is driving 40 to 50 times more traffic and
conversions to online brands simple by making websites more social.

As with everything in this industry, it depends on your client and what he's selling. If he's selling hearing aids, then Facebook or Twitter won't be my choices for social engagement since those normally aren't embraced by the over 65 crowd. (My brother, as usual, is the exception to the rule; but exceptions aren't the demographic usually.)
I have found Twitter to be most useful for me in engaging colleagues. I've seen a lot of Twitter missteps by brands and companies so if you are going to advise a client to use Twitter and FB, they need to know how and how not to go about using these mechanisms, and a little damage control. :)
I've collected some links on this topic, hope they help.

Do you have server space? If so, upload the image from the previous post there and send us a LINK to that image so we can view it in a browser rather than trying to force our email reader to open it with a tool we might not have available on this particular device. Also, keeps the subject matter (the image) alive for future threads. Just sayin.
