[Inside AdSense] The responsive web + AdSense

We know one of the biggest challenges publishers currently face is designing websites that adapt to different screen sizes, resolutions and user experiences. You've been asking for responsive ad units to help you deliver the best possible user experience on your pages, and we've listened to your feedback. Today, we're happy to share that responsive ad units are now available as a beta feature alongside our recently released asynchronous tag.

The new responsive ad units allow you to support a wide range of devices by working with your responsive design web pages.  You can now dynamically specify the size of the ad that will be served, adapting it to fit the way your site renders a page on a particular device.

As this is still a beta feature, here are a few pointers to keep in mind:
  • Be sure to specify fixed pixel values when setting the width and height of the ad to be served.
  • Make sure that the specified width and height match one of our supported ad sizes. Please note that link unit sizes aren't supported at the moment.
  • The new ad code is responsive on initial page load only. Subsequent changes to the ad size, such as a screen orientation change, will not cause a new ad to be displayed. We know that this is an important feature for many of you and we're currently working to address this.
  • Always set a default ad size in case some media queries aren't supported.
Step 1 - create a responsive ad unit

Step 2 - modify the sample CSS media queries in the new ad code

More detailed examples and steps to get started can be found in our Help Center. If you'd like to know more about responsive design, have a look at our Google Developers resource.

Thanks for all of your feedback on responsive web design to date. Please do continue to share your suggestions so we can keep improving AdSense for you. Watch this space for more news and updates in the near future!

how will you start linkbuilding by which method?

    Here is the scenario.

An attorney wants to transition from legal representation for divorces to
divorce mediation services. He is looking at having a separate website for
the divorce mediation services. He has his law practice website with
FindLaw. Their sales rep told him that having this new site would hurt his
existing webiste's SEO success and the new one would not get the same SEO
juice like his existing site does.

If his attorney website now doesn't mention anything about him providing
divorce mediation is the sales reps statement accurate? Please give a
    detailed explanation.

We have loaded product videos on youtube for our e-shop (short videos
showing product details) They are loaded through embed in our e-shop with
specific product. With each video (in description part) there is a link for
homepage shop inserted in this form http://domain.xx/.
Youtube automatically inserting "nofollow", but we can see those references
    for example through webmaster tools.

Is there a possibility to have negative effect to SEO, if there are lots of
references comimg from youtube? We are talking about hundrets videos.

My website is MyRideisMe.com. Been around since 2007. The blog is Wordpress.
I've got a bunch of questions... I'll narrow it down to TWO:

I wrote a story about "Ford Falcon Shelby Drop"
The title in Wordpress is: Ford Falcon Shelby Drop How-To: Handle it!
In the "All in one SEO Pack" plugin, the meta title for Google Search
is: Ford Falcon Shelby Drop How-To
Every picture has the file name: ...ford-falcon-shelby-drop....jpg

Then when I search in Google for "Falcon Shelby Drop" why am I on page 1 or
2 for this very specific search?
    Link to story:
    http://www.myrideisme.com/Blog/ford-falcon-shelby-drop-how-to-handle-it/

    Also, I wrote this story:
    http://www.myrideisme.com/Blog/phoenix-custom-auto-paint-warning/
When I search "Phoenix custom paint", want this story to be found because
it's a warning NOT to use this painter.
But, my page, the original content, is found BELOW a forum linking to my
    page: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=596318

YET, in both cases, pictures for my website are #1 in Google image search.
(of course that's no help since Google made changes to image search. I'm
down 60% in image search referrals since then)

    Thank you for any advice!
    Craig

    Hello,

I have a problem with a page that is not displaying the content of the
<title></title> tags in the search results.

When you visit the page in question (
    http://www.forexchurch.com/compare-forex-brokers.cfm ), the title displays
perfectly, as does the description. However if you have a look at the
    search results by searching(
    site:www.forexchurch.com/compare-forex-brokers.cfm ),
the majority of the title is missing and is replaced by a number "1" . The
page does contain paginated content on it, however I can't see how this
would be the cause for this issue.

I have tried using Google's Webmaster Tools to fetch the page and I have
check the html that way and the code does in fact contain the correct
    <title> information,
so I just don't understand what is causing this issue. If anyone could shed
some light on what the problem is and how it rectify it, I would be
    extremely grateful !

    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan.

    Hi,

My hosting provider has an instant URL pointing to my primary site and I
have my own domain also. Eg. www.mysite.com and "s1***9.instanturl.net".
Google is indexing both the URLs and showing both sites content in the
    search result.

I have blocked the sitelink of instantURL website in my primary site google
webmaster account. Will this effect the sitelink of my primary site. How do
I get the duplicate content issue getting created because of instanturl.
    Please do the needful.

    Hi!

Did you by any chance activate local time zone reporting in the AdSense web
interface? If this is the case you can use the useTimezoneReporting parameter
to retrieve the same data as in AdSense:
    https://developers.google.com/adsense/management/v1.3/reference/reports/generate

If not, can you share or email us the AdSense account you are using?

    Thanks,
    Jose

I'm trying to retrieve some data from Adsense using Google Adsense
Management API and I have this warning:

*Some of the requested ad clients do not support the requested combination
    of dimensions.*

    Metrics and dimensions i use:

    $optParams = array(
    'metric' => array(
    'EARNINGS', 'COST_PER_CLICK', 'CLICKS', 'PAGE_VIEWS', 'PAGE_VIEWS_CTR',
    'PAGE_VIEWS_RPM'
    ),
    'dimension' => 'AD_UNIT_NAME',
    'sort' => '-EARNINGS'
    );

    *

    *
The funny thing is that the metrics for some units are reported fine and
for some of them there is a huge difference between the real Page Views
value and the Page Views retrieved.

    Any ideas?

"Jose Alcérreca (AdSense API Team)" <adsenseapiadvisor+jose@google.com> Jul 29 03:53AM -0700

    Hi DeConf,

In V1.3 we included metadata calls to check how metrics and dimensions were
    compatible between each other.

You can use the APIs explorer to browse them:
    https://developers.google.com/adsense/management/v1.3/reference/metadata/dimensions/list

As you can see here, AD_UNIT_NAME is compatible with

    "compatibleMetrics": [
    "AD_REQUESTS",
    "AD_REQUESTS_COVERAGE",
    "AD_REQUESTS_CTR",
    "AD_REQUESTS_RPM",
    "CLICKS",
    "COST_PER_CLICK",
    "EARNINGS",
    "INDIVIDUAL_AD_IMPRESSIONS",
    "INDIVIDUAL_AD_IMPRESSIONS_CTR",
    "INDIVIDUAL_AD_IMPRESSIONS_RPM",
    "MATCHED_AD_REQUESTS",
    "MATCHED_AD_REQUESTS_CTR",
    "MATCHED_AD_REQUESTS_RPM"
    ],

...so page views dimensions are not compatible with AD_UNIT_NAME. A page
view is something related to an account or a URL... but can't be associated
with an Ad Unit. You might want to try INDIVIDUAL_AD_IMPRESSIONS_* instead
    of PAGE_VIEWS_*.

Let me know if that works.

    Cheers!
    Jose

So Ben, you never gave me an answer. I can get such a script online for
$250.00 (no master reseller rights, just a license to run it on one site).
If I spent about $1200 I could have master reseller rights.

Apparently, I insulted you with my offer of $100.00 for a single license.
I apologize, I am just trying to dicker. Just like any business, I
    bargain.

I definitely cannot afford 1200.00 to have a script I can resell, but I
would like a more professional version that uses ImageMagik library and
would pay a little bit more if it could produce multiresolution favicons (a
48x48 for the desktop and a 16x16 for the favicon).

Are you so insulted that you have stopped talking to me, period? I just
want to know if this is do-able, or not.

It is not a spam, sharing of links … most web designers use templates for their work and showing them a website to get a template shouldn't be considered as a spam. So why do you have so many external links in your signature Doug?

In the previous response, I had not used the correct value for "kind"
property. I have updated it now and here is the new JSON data for request
    body:

    "{\"code\":\"\",\"id\":\"\",\"kind\":\"adsensehost#adUnit\",\"name\":\"Demo
    Ad1\",\"customStyle\":{\"kind\":\"adsensehost#adStyle\",\"corners\":\"VERY_ROUNDED\",\"colors\":{\"border\":\"FF0000\",\"title\":\"000000\",\"background\":\"FFFFFF\",\"text\":\"00FF00\",\"url\":\"0000FF\"},\"font\":{\"family\":\"ACCOUNT_DEFAULT_FAMILY\",\"size\":\"ACCOUNT_DEFAULT_SIZE\"}},\"contentAdsSettings\":{\"type\":\"TEXT\",\"size\":\"SIZE_300_250\",\"backupOption\":{\"type\":\"COLOR\",\"color\":\"FFFFFF\",\"url\":\"\"}},\"mobileContentAdsSettings\":{\"type\":\"\",\"size\":\"\",\"markupLanguage\":\"\",\"scriptingLanguage\":\"\"}}"

    Jose,

I did not have any success with the API Explorer as well, but that gives a
different error. Whatever Account Id I use, I am getting an error saying
the account id is not valid.

Here is the JSON data I am passing in the request body:

    {\"code\":\"\",\"id\":\"\",\"kind\":\"\",\"name\":\"Demo
    Ad1\",\"customStyle\":{\"kind\":\"\",\"corners\":\"VERY_ROUNDED\",\"colors\":{\"border\":\"FF0000\",\"title\":\"000000\",\"background\":\"FFFFFF\",\"text\":\"00FF00\",\"url\":\"0000FF\"},\"font\":{\"family\":\"ACCOUNT_DEFAULT_FAMILY\",\"size\":\"ACCOUNT_DEFAULT_SIZE\"}},\"contentAdsSettings\":{\"type\":\"TEXT\",\"size\":\"SIZE_300_250\",\"backupOption\":{\"type\":\"COLOR\",\"color\":\"FFFFFF\",\"url\":\"\"}},\"mobileContentAdsSettings\":{\"type\":\"\",\"size\":\"\",\"markupLanguage\":\"\",\"scriptingLanguage\":\"\"}}

Do you see anything wrong in the JSON data?

    Hi Tony,

It could be related to the empty mobileContentAdsSettings but you should
use the APIs explorer for this. Authenticate with your host account
(sandbox or production). Make sure the account ID is your publisher's and
that the ad client ID belongs to the publisher account.

    https://developers.google.com/adsense/host/v4.1/accounts/adunits/insert

Check the client libraries' samples to make sure every required field is
    added to the request.

Let us know if you find the problem.

    Cheers,
    Jose

[Inside AdSense] Get the most up-to-date data on your account with local time zone reporting

We know that access to the most up-to-date data on your account is important in understanding how it's performing on a daily basis. Up to now, we've reported your daily earnings based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). Over the next couple of weeks however, you'll be able to view your daily earnings based on your local time zone, giving you the latest information.

You can set up your time zone reporting preferences from your account in a few quick steps. From the Account information section on your Account settings page, a field now exists for time zone information where you can select your preferred local time setting. When you update your time zone preferences, you can expect to see some anomalies in your local earnings data for that day. Depending on your local time zone, you'll either see a reduction or a spike based on whether the change means you are gaining or losing hours - keep an eye out for a notification in your account on this. It's important to note that this does not affect your payments data which will always remain in PST.

When you update your time zone preferences, your existing saved and scheduled reports will be migrated to your preferred time zone automatically while future reports will also be based on your indicated preference. Updating your time zone preference will only affect your earnings data going forward and does not apply retrospectively.

Learn more about time zone reporting in our Help Center and make sure you're getting the most up-to-date earnings data on your account.

Your drop in PR is probably due to your shotgun approach to link building.
Just a quick look in MajesticSEO in the backlinks section shows that most
of your top backlinks have no relevance whatsoever.

If you have been following the SEO news about Google's updates then you
know that Penguin version 2 has hit and it targets non-relevant links and
removes their influence on your PageRank. IF enough are found, it *can* hit
    you with a position penalty.

This being said, PR has little effect on search results as Google has
switched to considering relevance of more importance than links.
This means your on-page content has assumed a much higher value and
    presentation has considerable effect.

Looking at your primary keyword phrase Tampa Florida Bankruptcy Attorneys
    you show as #17,
You need to adjust your content for better presentation, making it easier
    to find keywords.

There is a lot of on page SEO that can be done.
Contact me in Skype if you would like to discuss your options.

[Inside AdSense] Boost your website performance using tips from our experts

Google Analytics can be an incredibly valuable source of information for AdSense publishers,  and today we're announcing a new way for you to use those insights to improve your site's performance. Google Analytics has created a data sharing setting to give you the option to let our optimization specialists proactively analyze your Analytics account data to find new ways for you to grow your business online. We'll help you understand how people find your site, how they navigate through it, and how they become loyal users - and we'll help you take advantage of Analytics features like Content Experiments to help you determine the most optimal layout for your site.

If you've linked your AdSense account with Analytics, opt in to the Account specialists data sharing setting under the Account Settings tab. Then we'll be able to build targeted recommendations to help you improve the user experience on your site and monetize with AdSense more effectively.

Additionally, if you want to help make our other products work better for content publishers like yourself, you can opt in to the existing With other Google products setting under the same Account Settings tab. Sharing your Analytics data with other Google products can help us create new publisher solutions to achieve your website goals. For example, AdWords could recommend more effective keywords based on an understanding of how users behave on your site or AdSense could suggest more effective ad placements.

You can find full instructions for updating your Analytics settings in the Analytics Help Center.

Update your Analytics settings

Your website data will not be used for any purposes other than those that you specify in your settings, which you may change at any time. If you haven't linked your AdSense account with Analytics, you can learn more about using Analytics with AdSense in our Help Center.

Finally, to receive more targeted optimization tips, make sure you're opted into Performance Suggestions in your AdSense email preferences. We look forward to helping you grow your site!

    Hi there,

The official documentation is all you need to get started.

is there some URL that displays a JSON file that can be parsed or what must

That is, basically, it. If you use client libraries you won't have to guess

    like handling authentication.

I think I got some idea how this error happens. I have been trying to
associate the same sandbox account as a publisher, which is used as the
host account as well. In that case, I am not taken to the steps to create a
new AdSense account, instead, I am prompted at the Google website to "Start
showing Ads in www......com website". (This is because Sandbox account is
already an AdSense account) After this step, I am taken back to the
callback page in the host website with the status "ACCEPTED". However, I
get the error when I call further APIs if the host and publisher are the
    same Google account.

If I create a new Google account and try to associate that with the sandbox
host site, it goes through the steps to create a new AdSense account. And
if I make further API calls for this publisher, it is working fine. So, it
works as expected if I am working with 2 different accounts as Host and
    Publisher.

Today we're happy to share the introduction of favicons to our text ads. A favicon is a small graphic that an advertiser can use to brand their website, such as their company logo.

We regularly experiment with small changes to the look of our text ads, measuring the potential impact on user experience and publisher earnings. Our experiments show that adding these favicons to the ads makes advertisers more recognizable to your users, which benefits both you and the advertisers whose ads appear on your sites.

We'd love to hear your thoughts -- feel free to share your feedback about this new look for text ads on our AdSense +page.
