- CMS for entire site? [1 Update]
- Portfolio critique [2 Updates]

I really hear the static HTML web pages argument. The thing is that some
sites are simply better off as static websites. Especially small sites
that don't get updated much.
But most CMSes allow for several degrees of administration with different
rankings offering limited management privledges - most are easily
definable.
True, most do ruin our designs by refusing to tell us which photos to use
in a slideshow, what captions to use with each and the site never gets
finished. And our degree of how much time we will waste babysitting the
client is used up pretty quickly if they are not knowledgeable AND are too
lazy to give us the data we need to finish a site. Obviously, I had this
happen to Me recently, LOL.
But we can offer them an emergency admin access (in case of our death,
etc), and tell them to use the manager's/publisher's account we provide so
that they can manage the things that they need to.
While I understand that our work can be killed with pointless animations
and blinking text, I certainly try to educate the client as to how the
website should be managed correctly (and my designs are locked down unless
they use the admin account).
Admittedly, I have a number of designs that I refuse to put in my portfolio
because of client foolishness, but most clients are reasonable enough to
understand and retain what I have taught them and that education is a part
of my design and is figured into my sales.
Certainly, for large sites, they need to be dynamic, and even smaller sites
that are updated frequently often require the convenience of a CMS. But
you are right, if you are putting out a small site and want it to be super
secure, HTML static sites are best.
Still, I hope to see a client that wil;l take My design and create a real
valuable resource with it. It actually happens, on the rare occasion.

I'm a bit puzzled, as it appears that you want a critique and yet aren't
interested in design? Development, or programming, is simply another means
to the same end. Although you are requesting input as to functionality,
the whole idea behind development, as opposed to static pages, at least to
me, is to present content tailored to design for the user. It is that
custom resulting personalized design that the programming offers, and we
don't get to see what server-side scripts are doing.
That said, your design is the weakness, and although you are concentrating
on functionality, there is very little of that which we are exposed to.
So, you'll have to take this the way I know to present it, as I have
absolutely no idea how well it functions (or not). That is hidden (unless
we are discussing a client side script for a UI element).
#1 Under Construction
The whole of the web is under construction. These signs are
understood. And they are also a big no-no.
#2 No Logo
It obviously isn't a serious website as there is no brand associated
it. Such presences are considered experimental stuff that is obviously
under construction. Lacks any professional or even finished personality.
#3 Screen Shot button doesn't work.
I would also recommend using thumbnail previews.
#4 Dynamic websites that require a login in order to demo a site are
worthless to the public. Though you suggest to contact you for access,
there is no link to a web form (or even an amateur mailto: link).
Consider adding a disabled account that the user can log into
#5 No design sense
I know you don't care about design, but you should. You should have
from the very start. You are formatting your paragraphs and styling the
text, so how can you overlook the design of the page and eliminate its
character?
I know you are trying to understand this all, and its tough to switch gears
from logic to style code, but it truly is simple to accomplish once you
understand it. You can have a geeky simplistic and nominalistic presence,
but to avoid the idea of the web as a media on a website shows an inability
to comprehend the media.
Now, all this said I know you are working towards some rather lofty goals
and you are trying to get to the meat of it, but in doing so you are
avoiding areas such as image, message and marketing that could be laying
the groundwork for the work your doing now much later down the road.

@Artist. Thanks a whole lot. I admit I am PS deficient. And like some
earlier observed, design is inborn. But I will try to improve. PS
know-how is my problem. I ll work on d page design.
As for the login stuff, I added it in the post here. Check the
conversation trail. The very first.
