    Hi,

I am looking for a simple, inline content editor that I can apply to my
HTML/PHP content. I am currently using *CKEditor* but don't like the way it
rewrites my good code. In the end, its just too confusing for customers.

I found *nicEdit* and that works really well. But the code it writes is old
    style HTML (<b>, <font>, etc).

Does anyone know of an editor that can be applied to a specific page that
will write good HTML? Or does this old style code bother anyone but me?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jud

Joni, thanks for the tip. I wasn't aware of SnippetMaster. Pretty interesting.

But that seems too involved for most of my clients. I just want a simple two-line inline editor that doesn't get them into too much trouble.

nicEdit is the right amount of capability if it just wrote code in standard HTML.

I appreciate your passing this along.

I generally use a CMS but for the occasional straight HTML site, I use snippetmaster because you can actually designate the areas the client can edit and keep them out of areas they don't need to be messing with. :)

Also consider, as a future solution, a small-footprint CMS called Get Simple CMS. It does not require a database and is a breeze to design for. AND the backend is very client friendly.
