I agree with Gary - I would try to make pages have at least 300 words, with
the caveat that I wouldn't have overly long articles for the sake of google.
Better to have shorter articles that are well-written than very long,
rambling articles. As much as you are optimising for the search engines, you
also want people to enjoy reading your information and if you fill copy with
unnecessary words you are more likely to bore / lose visitors quickly.

Just as important is the google 'freshness' update, which means that a
website can be favoured by google according to how recent content is for
particular keywords, so that means regularly adding articles that are
    optimised for your target keywords.

The minimal number of words should be 300 words, some people are using 600
to 1000 for optimal consideration. Anything lower than 300 is considered to
be a snippet and is treated differently. Personally, I would not go any
    lower than 150 words.

Panda focuses "onpage factors" that means everything to do with your website
content (Hari G your assertion is completely wrong!)

300 to 600 words per page. Google panda is all about content or simply
on page optimization.so go for fresh content with minimum of 300 to a
maximum of 600 words. Do not copy the content.

I am a SEO by profession and all it takes to put right content. Size does
not matter but you need to have more than 300 words as in less than those
you won't be able to say what actually you hv to.

I have an interesting story. Being an SEO I have achieved 1% bounce rate for
one of my websites. I will share the link in few days for what I have done.
    Stay tuned.
