Hi everyone,
I have a question about how to make a list of links look good in design
and easy to navigate.
I have a list of 14 links. These links refer to pdf files. If someone
want to
read the content of these pdf files, he must follow a certain path.
For example
to be able to understand what the 7th link/pdf says he has to read
first the 1st,
then the 3rd and then go to 7th. The same goes for the other links too.
My problem is how to present the list so as to instruct him the path
he has to follow,
and how can i present this in a nice and clear way? A clear way to
present
and for him to navigate through them
The site is not on any CMS platform. So is there any jquery plugin
appropriate to propose?
Or any diagram software that i put images instead of text links? In
general how to approach it?
Later on i want to impliment it on a larger scale project.
Thank you.

What about setting it up in a table with a one of the column headings
being something like "Read Order" and you can put the document number(s)
in order with commas between them for each document in that column.

Don't use a table, use a div to hold stylized unordered lists. This is
what they are for.
I would present the link for the first one and hide the others. Inform the
user that the next one will be presented when he closes the first, and so
on. You can have a plus sign to click on to see all the links (unhidden)
in case they are getting back to it after a lunch break, the next day,
whatever.
Once you get that far you will have all kinds of styling options.

The table idea wouldn't much with the whole concept that the site has.
I would like something more interactive navigation. except if i
implement it with image map and make it like sketch with pics instead
of text.

Sorry i should reply to this message. I am new.
i also thought the idea of hiding others. Could i do it with a jquery
plugin? something that shows lines and levels like tree diagram?

Sure, that should be easy enough. But I actually think that you could
accomplish it all with CSS.
You would have to use display: none; and then on hover display: block or
something (not sure without working it all up, but I am sure it would be
possible to do it with CSS).
then again, you would probably be able to get the most interactivity out of
jquery using cookies for when someone returned after a break.

Dear all,
We've hit a major milestone with our free educational materials: Our newest chapter is written by NY Times bestseller and Harvard Professor, Clayton Christensen. Also, Don Norman has written a lengthy commentary on Clayton's chapter, starting with the statement: 'Anyone who cares about innovation must read Clayton Christensen.'
Indeed, Clayton is consistently acknowledged as one of the world's leading thinkers on innovation and we're delighted that he has contributed to our free encyclopedia.
Also, we recently published a chapter by Kia Hook with on Affect and Emotion: Affective Computing, Affective Interaction and Technology as Experience. It included 4 HD video interviews and 4 lengthy commentaries by some notable people, for example Rosalind Picard from MIT.
We would *love* if you posted a short note on your blog/website about any of our chapters.
You can see the two new chapters at:

Again, thanks for helping us give everyone around the world free access to educational materials written by the world's foremost authorities!

This is a bug in Mozilla. There's a fix, mine only does it once in a
while, so I haven't looked for it. Check out Mozilla.org
