<a href="page2.html" target="_self">Page 2</a>
Each page will have to be linked according to what is next, previous, etc..
Or with the domain name:
<a href="http://www.foosite.com/page2.html" target="_self">Page 2</a>
The target "_self" is implied and not necessary, but designates the
current frame that the current page is loaded in (load into the same
frame as this page is... self).
The hyperlink uses the anchor tag <a>
You always need to include the path if it is different from the
current document. If it is not (this page is in the same directory or
subdirectory as the linked page) you do not need to specify the path.
So if your home page is available at http://www.foosite.com/ and your
page2.html is in the same directory, either example will work. But
calling the server again is unnecessary.
If is elsewhere, like in a directory called gallery/ then it would be...
<a href="directory/page2.html" target="_self">Page 2</a>
With this example, to get back to the home page, you can use...
<a href="../" target="_self">Back to Home</a>
...which crawls up the directory path one directory.
OR:
<a href="/" target="_self">Back to Home</a>
...which calls up the default file for the domain name (the home page
html file).
The other alternative href (h = hyperlink & ref = reference) is
http://www.domain.com (using your domain name), but then again, that
calls a hit on the server and you are already connected to it and
authorized.
You can also give an <a> an id and then return to that spot on the page.
<a id="AboutThis">About This Great Thing</a>
If you want to revisit that particular subject as a reference to
something else later at the bottom of the page (or anywhere on the
page), you can...
<a href="#AboutThis">More About This</a>
...and a user clicking on it will go to that place on the page with <a
id="AboutThis">About This Great Thing</a>
From another page you can do the same thing, you just have to
designate the page...
<a href="page2.html#AboutThis">More About This</a>
...will work to get back to the AboutThis <a> (anchor) with
id="AboutThis" on page2.html if it is in the same directory.
Hope that helps.

Actually, using an anchor ONLY as an ID, you should use it like this:
<a id="AboutThis"></a>About This Great Thing
This:
<a id="AboutThis">About This Great Thing</a>
...should onlt be used if that text is going to link elsewhere...
<a id="AboutThis" href="pop-up-detailed-explanation.html"
target="_blank">About This Great Thing</a>
(the target there will load the detailed explanation in a new tab or window)
