When the founders of Google were young and naive, they had Utopian dreams
of not becoming Microsoft. They even went so far as to adopt a slogan "do
no evil" which has come back to haunt them.

The reality set in when they had to answer to their "angel investors such
as the NSA, as in "No Such Agency" in DC. In exchange for money they had
to data-mine for the govt (or at least share technology with the government
so the government could data-mine). They also realized they could make
money in the private sector by selling the information.

The takeaway from that and the article about the streetviewer vehicles is SECURE YOUR NETWORK! Sorry to be shouty, but only *unencrypted* networks were "breached." This is Networking 101 IMHO.

I watched the street view van when it was round are end; sorry but i have
now life and no job. This was about 3 and a half years ago. It must have
just went down the street at about 10 mph, stopped at the corner once for
about 15 seconds and drove off. My data was hardly gonna be under seige in
    that time frame hey?

I like google but i don't like paypal and never have. I got told that
google bought out paypal and i still think it sucks....they must have
kept all the old faces and their jobs. As for the street van hacking
into peoples home pc's .... well you think that google would have
thought of a better plan to match all those ip addresses up with door
    numbers.

eBay owns Paypal unless something recently changed.

I believe you are correct Mark. If Google owned PayPal they would have
unlisted phone numbers and there would be no staff to answer the phones.

I don't know where you got the idea that Google owns PayPal. eBay has
owned PayPal for a number of years now.

It just occurred to me, are you confusing Google Checkout with PayPal?
