Hi all,
I need some help with creating a horizontal menu bar for my website.
I need each link to span on two lines. Something like this:
Home About Contact
Welcome to Site All about us Talk to us
They will sit in a header div which has a height of 100px.
I want these to be centered vertically and when a person hovers the
hover background fills the 100px height for each link. I have tried
using a <br> tag within the main link but it doesn't work.
The best online example I know to explain what I am trying to do is:
http://southcreative.com/gold-coast-web-design.html
I will not be using a background image - just a background colour.
Thanks for any help,
Andy ;-)

I fail to see how your example helps. It doesn't appear to do what I think you want your nav menu to do. Unless I am confused about what you want. Did you mean something like this?

If you are using Firefox, you can get the Developers tools and view the CSS and HTML and figure out how it was all put together.
If you want each MENU item to span two lines then you will likely have to hard code that anchor text. Are you using an unordered list to display the menu items? Can we see your code?

Andy,
In the online example you have given us, the menu is made up of images with
a rollover effect. If this is the method you wish to use, then just make
up your own images with the background color you wish and text centered
vertically with a text effect on the rollover image.
If your goal is to make a css menu that is actually readable by search
engines, then I would recommend that you use the resources found on a
google search:
https://www.google.com.ph/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ix=sea&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=css%20menu%20generator&oq=&aq=&aqi=&aql=&gs_l=&pbx=1&fp=beafa4bc4f8a5807&ix=sea&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1257&bih=692
Between many of these, I am sure you can come up with something that is
pleasing and you can incorporate in your design as they can be edited on
the fly and then download for insertion into your site.
