You might get some useful feedback if you had the site opened up to take a
look at without having to join. Personally I do not join anything I do not
have a clue regarding what it does. When I tried to browse it with my
mobile phone, it prompted me to click on an ad to continue because of
suspicious traffic from my ip. Nothing makes me hit the back button faster
than being served an ad I have to click on to enter.

I would say that you need to be more transparent by having a "tour" or
similar so people will say "how cool is that!" then join and not try to
monetize the site from the gate. Get a following then you can start serving
    ads.

I have to agree with Chris I'm the same way (but this is just opinion
so feel free to ignore it). I would focus on building momentum then
focus on maximizing the financial return of the site just as Chris
    said.

Then do not expect much growth. Why would anyone want to join your site
when they do not know what it actually does? If you are trying to come up
with the next great social network, study exisiting ones to see how they do
things... Maybe you have heard of a little site called Facebook?

I will try to explain it again. when I browsed your site on my phone I
    could choose exactly three options:

    - Join
    - Login
    - Cool Links

Cool links took me to an advertisement I had to click on in order to
    proceed - not very cool!

What you need to do is have a collapsible content pane or even a popup
dialog linked to a button that has screenshots of what your site looks like
under the hood..... something that will compel someone to join like a
screenshot of a profile or an interaction between two users.

When I went to your site, I do not know what it is.. 419 maybe?

Chris, you are beating a dead horse. Some people come on here because
they genuinely want to learn. Others ... not so much.

Signing up to gain access to a site is one thing. My best friend's
forum operated that way for a long time. But you KNEW it was a forum
before you signed up. In your case, you have done NOTHING to explain
to the site visitor WHY he should sign up.

I think there have been some great suggestions here. But, OP, do as
you wish. But have an understanding of the average Internet user.
They have the attention span of a gnat. If you don't grab that
attention by giving them a COMPELLING reason to click through to your
site, it will end up so much web lint. And who needs more of that?

    Hey Doug,
I pulled up fiddler to see what may be happening. The redirect loop
doesn't happen when using www.w3n.us instead of w3n.us. Do you have
any DNS redirects setup? because I believe what is happening is the
value you have entered in YOURLS says www.w3n.us. If this is setup on
a redirect to w3n.us anywhere it will hit the tiny url filter again
and send to www.w3n.us which will go to the w3n.us again...rinse
    repeat.

Advanced settings are available from the address bar by entering "*about:X*",
where X stands for a variety of possibilities. A list of the possible
entries can be obtained by entering "*about:about*" in the address bar
(without quotes and with no spaces).

Also, fiddler didn't show any cookies being set during the transaction.
